1.      How do l get rid of under eye bags, dark circles and puffy eyes?

These eye-related problems can be caused by a myriad of factors including a lack of sleep, wearing prescription glasses, excessive skin under the eyes or may even be hereditary.  Your best bet, other than a surgical procedure, is to apply an eye cream or gel around the delicate eye zone.  Eye creams / gels are more intensive than regular moisturisers and typically contain vitamins and antioxidants to firm up the skin around the eyes and relieve congestion.  Try Zirh RestoreAnthony Logistics Eye Cream or NICKEL Eye Contour Lift.

2.      How do l reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines?

The skin around the eyes are thin and delicate.  As we age, the skin loses its elasticity and combined with the damaging effects of the sun and other environmental aggressors, wrinkles and fine lines start appearing around the eyes.

Applying an eye cream or gel can help diminish these lines and fight against the signs of ageing.  Usually formulated with Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), they assist in shedding dead skin cells and promoting cell renewal.  Use your fingertips to gently dab the cream or gel over the eye zone.  Use your ring finger as it is generally weaker and will apply less pressure on the eyes.  Try not to squint or frown and wear sunglasses in the sun.  Also remember to apply sunscreen even on cloudy days.

3.      What are Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) and what do they do?

AHAs or Alpha Hydroxy Acids are commonly known as fruit acids.  As the name suggests they are mild acids extracted from fruit and other foodstuff.  Citrus Acid is derived from citrus fruits, Malic Acid from apples, Glycolic Acid from sugar cane, Tartaric Acid from grapes and Lactic Acid from milk.  These acids help the skin to release dead skin cells and promote cell turnover and renewal.  It encourages the growth of healthy new skin cells for a brighter and smoother complexion.  AHAs are commonly used in anti-ageing products to smooth out wrinkles and lines.  They can also be found in cleansers or moisturisers to revitalize a dull complexion.
